At the climax of a wild night, Iris and her partner experiment with a third — but is that what she really wants?
________
I took on the role of colourist for this bold drama, which utilises sustained close-ups throughout to tell an intense personal story.
Grading from one angle gave me the opportunity to focus on the smaller details. For instance, I used tracking masks to bring out specific aspects of the lead actress’ expression.

It was a joy to colaborate with my old university pal, director Floris Driebergen to peice together this tightly written and acted drama in the summer of 2022.

________
Shortly after arriving in Toronto I attended the Kino Toronto short film night, a monthly short film night that hosts a 2 minutes or less film competition, with a common prompt decided the previous month.
Following the prompt “my therapist said” I wrote a script and reached out to talented filmmakers I’d met at the night. Over one hectic evening we shot the film, and had it edited in time for the next event.
The shoot was full of unexpected challenges, from maintaining the structure integrity of roast chicken, to spraying blood in a straight line (much harder than it looks). Considering the tight turnaround we were happy with the result, although a director’s cut is in the works!

At 29, man-child Chadwick confronts his masculinity, making a life-changing decision.
________
It was exciting to piece this edit together in the punchy way required to fit the chosen track and do justice to the actors’ excellent performances.
In the second half I took a deep dive into sound design, overloading acoustic detail to match the intensity of Chadwick’s mental state.
